Heritage
Founded in 1918 by the visionary Late Sri Katapady Beedu Jagannatha Ballal under the Madras Government, our Society initially focused on providing essential agricultural supplies to support local farmers. Though early growth was modest, a major transformation came in 1979 when a dynamic management committee, led by the late Dr. S. Ramananda Bhat and supported by Sri Sanjeeva Kanchan, Sri P.K. Sathyanarayana, and Sri Chandrashekar Shettigar, took the helm. Under the guidance of Sri T. Shambu Shetty and the dedicated service of Sri Jayakar Shetty Indrali as General Manager, the Society underwent a significant expansion, setting the stage for its impactful growth.
In this context, cooperative bodies play a crucial role. The success of Sahakara Sanghas over centuries underscores their importance in the cooperative sector. The “Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society, Limited, Udupi” stands as a national exemplar, having achieved significant milestones over its century-long history. We have consistently served the diverse needs of Coastal Karnataka with unwavering dedication and responsibility.
We are particularly proud to have received the prestigious “National Award for Cooperative Excellence” from the Central Government Cooperative Department (N.C.D.C) for the second time. This accolade, among others, reflects our enduring dedication and achievements, reinforcing our commitment to fostering prosperity and advancing community well-being through more than a century of service.
